I spent from 3pm to 7pm standing, holding signs for
Hillary, yelling at the top of my voice, and trading barbs with Obama and Ron Paul people
- what fun! In a crowd of 500 plus people at the UT campus- mostly young people, but
all ages and ethnicities. During the day Hillary people outnumbered Obama people but
close to the debate it evened up...
Obama's people brought a small marching band - in answer 5 young ladies in our team turned
over buckets and used drumsticks to whip our crowd into a frenzy. It was
exhilarating...those young ladies were inspiring. they played those drums for hours - goes
to show you can buy showmanship but you can't buy heart and Hillary's team had heart.
As one of our people shouted when the HS marching band from a local school arrived - is he
running for president or for American Idol!
Older women, younger women, older men, cowboys, asians, latinos, blacks, whites.
Lots of energy - fun on both sides .. I will send photos later
What a thrilling evening. And of course the debates were pretty good - nothing new from
either side. But polls show Hillary slightly ahead and the latinos will deliver
Texas to Hillary!!!
I attached a letter from writer Robin Morgan ... it's long (6 pages) but it really spells
out exactly how I and many women of my generation feel. That women continue to act
like second class citizens afraid to say, I support Hillary because I am a woman!
While everyone else can support their own ethnicites, religious groups, etc., without
feeling bad.
as Robin ends the article "I support Hillary not because she is a woman, but
because I am one!"
have a good night!
