| In the picture Lydia Mendoza, known as the "Lark of the Border," born in Houston in 1916. She also recorded with his sister Maria and Juanita in a group called The Mendoza Sisters. Though Lydia was the first known as a Texan-American singer, Chelo Silva as a texan born bolerist ( born in Brownsville in 1922) was too one of the women pioneer in radio.
